LASA BASIC RULES OF THE GAME
All ages- player equipment: No jewelry is to be worn. Earrings may be taped to cover. Shin guards are required and must be covered by socks. Soccer cleats are recommended but not required. No “toe cleats” and no metal spikes allowed. Croakies/ straps must be worn for glasses.
Mercy Rule: If one team goes up by 3 they must play down one player (either remove a player or other team can add one).
Once the goal differential is less than 3 goals, both teams may play at normal capacities.
Goalie rules (goalies added at U9) -
Goalie must wear a different color than the teams, a pinnie or goalie shirt may be worn
Goalie gloves are recommended but not required.
U5/U6
U7/U8
- Ball size: 3
- Game length: 20 min halves - 5 min half time
- Number of players on the field: 3 vs 3, 4 vs 4 MAX
- No double touches on corner kicks, goal kicks, kick ins or during normal kick offs – Can re-do kicks
- No heading -referee will stop play – if accidental will be a drop ball, if intentional will be an indirect kick
- No sliding
- Build out line used for goal kicks – the build out line will be the center line
- Hand balls called at referee discretion
- No offsides
- Concussion Policy in effect
- Substitutions are unlimited and allowed when referee allows for one.
- No goalies, player can play in defensive positions, however should not stay in the goal box the whole time.
- Referee: 1 center
U9/U10
- Ball size: 4
- Game length: 25 min halves - 10 min half time
- Number of players on the field: 8 vs 8
- No double touches on corner kicks, goal kicks, throw-ins, and normal kick off
- Goalies are used - no punting allowed
- Goalies cannot pick up a pass from their teammate unless it is accidental and unintentional
- Add a goalie count – goalie can hold ball for 8 seconds
- No heading allowed - referee will stop play – if accidental will be a drop ball, if intentional will be an indirect kick
- No sliding allowed
- Build out line used for goal kicks. Build out line is at the front of the center circle.
- If goalie gains possession of the ball, opposing players must clear penalty box area.
- On goal kicks defenders may stand inside penalty box.
- Hand balls called at referee discretion
- Offsides rules apply
- Concussion Policy in effect
- Substitutions are unlimited and allowed when referee allows for one.
- Referee:1 center 2 AR/line or 2 centers
U12
- Ball size: 4
- Game length: 30 min halves - 10 min half time
- Number of players on the field 9 vs 9
- No double touches on corner kicks, goal kicks, throw ins and normal kick off
- Punting is allowed by goalies
- Goalies cannot pick up a pass from their teammate unless it is accidental and unintentional
- Add a goalie count – goalie can hold ball for 6 seconds
- No heading allowed - referee will stop play – if accidental will be a drop ball, if intentional will be an indirect kick
- No sliding allowed
- No build out line
- On goal kicks defenders may stand inside penalty box.
